Fantasporto 2026 to present a unique retrospective dedicated
to Norwegian cinema

From February 28th to March 9th, 2026, Porto will host the 46th edition of Fantasporto, the International Film Festival.
Founded in 1981 and with 45 years of uninterrupted activity, the festival is one of the country's cultural landmarks. It has been awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit by the Government, the Gold Medals of the Porto and Gaia City Councils, and is recognized as an Institution of Public Utility. The international press confirms this recognition: Variety dedicated several reports to the festival, MovieMaker placed it among the "30 Coolest Film Festivals in the World," and Dread Central highlighted it as one of the "Best Horror Festivals in the World." filmfestivals.com has been onboard for decades as Fantasporto special media partner! Over the decades, it has distinguished filmmakers such as Guillermo del Toro, Bong Joon-ho, Peter Jackson, Danny Boyle, Darren Aronofsky, Lars von Trier, David Cronenberg, Park Chan-wook, Álex de la Iglesia, Takeshi Kitano or Shinya Tsukamoto. In 2026, it will present a unique retrospective dedicated to Norwegian cinema, organized by the Norwegian Film Institute. Four decades later, Fantasporto continues to affirm Porto as a city of cinema and a global meeting place for the world of film.
