Discover 6 films in progress in the 44 session of Cinéma en
Construction Toulouse

This year, Cinéma en Construction welcomed feature-length fiction, hybrid, experimental and animated films. The diversity of themes and aesthetics never fails to amaze us. The presence of countries hitherto under-represented enriched that plurality with their cultures and imaginaries.
The themes of abandonment, loss and parenthood are approached from a variety of angles. Singular writing, combined with poetry, authenticity and emotion, reveal what was previously dark.
This 44th selection is marked by the presence of indigenous and Afro-descendant people, for too long excluded from mainstream narratives; this is a reminder of attachment to their land and a living spirit of resistance despite urban temptation.
Cinéma en Construction celebrates the determination of debut works and the ever-renovated experience with new gestures by consecrated filmmakers.
This selection invites us all to discover 3 first films by filmmakers who look at the world with the strength of conviction of their beginnings. The 2nd film by the Bolivian Álvaro Olmos Torrico, the 3rd by the Ecuadorian Ana Cristina Barragán and the 5th by the Colombian Rubén Mendoza/Rubén Tabcharani explore intimate stories in which children and adolescents are at the heart of the narrative.
A cinema that travels the continent through 6 countries, a cinema to share, that allows us to cross borders in order to live together. By showing these films to professionals, it brings them into the spotlight and gives them an international perspective.
In France, the success of the entire industry is still founded on a public policy that is essential to the ecosystem, but which some people call in question. Culture, consubstantial and indispensable to democracy, cannot be an adjustment variable of austerity policies that the most radicals apply with a chainsaw or an axe.
Together, we must keep bringing our cinematic emotions to our audiences.
Let's meet up in Toulouse on 27th and 28th March for a new edition of Cinéma en Construction !
